Featuring the History of Yolo County, California!

Located on the west side of the Sacramento River, Yolo County includes the growing cities of Davis, West Sacramento, Winters, and Woodland. It is home to the University of California - Davis, Cache Creek Casino, the Sacramento Rivercats, and more than 200,000 people. It's a rural county with fields of rice, tomatoes, and wildlife. But, it's a land with a past. The water-logged pier where long-gone paddlewheel boats once tied, the overgrown right-of-way where electric trollies once rolled, the ramshackle remnant of an old fence line, and the nearly overgrown indian mound all silently attest that other people lived here long before we did. Its place names such as Rose Orchard, Webster, and Buckeye and its road names like Cantrill, Tule Jake, and Reed echo the events and names of its past. History happened in every corner of Yolo County. This site is about the stories of the people who lived that history.
